That is to say that it is set on our Earth, but so far into the future as to have become completely unrecognizable. The game (CRPG and traditional RPG both) takes place in the Ninth World, which is basically the setting of the Book of the New Sun. I bought it solely on the merit that Tides of Numenera was going to be set in that setting. I'm not hugely familiar with Numenera, but I do know that it is a new setting created by Monte Cook, and I do have the RPG. So it is with high expectations that I step into the world of Numenera. How many other stories have had us help an alleyway give birth? How many other stories have allowed us to partake in a conversation from three different perspectives (Deionarra, the Practical Incarnation and the current Nameless One)? To talk with a weaponsmith for entropy to use our own mummified arm as a weapon while wearing our guts as a bracelet or for that matter to participate in our own vivisection? Where it shone, though, and where it still shines bright is the writing. While the gameplay of PS:T was far from stellar, I never had any problems with it. As soon as I saw that this was going to be a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment I was all over it. Torment: Tides of Numenera was either the first or the second thing I ever backed on Kickstarter. Thank you for the needed advice. The time has finally come to sink my teeth into this, the spiritual successor to what I consider to be one of the best written CRPGs ever made. For example, Salimeri in the Order of Truth and Sigyn in the Governement Square know the Changing God by that name. I think this is obvious, but in any case, I've also added to the description that sometimes people recognize the Changing God as a man called Adahn (a made up name he sometimes used and an easter egg from Planescape: Torment), so if you're going for this trophy always agree that you're him. If you followed the steps I wrote in trophy's description then you should have had that talk earlier and trophy could have popped after talking to Aadiriis. If you'd have done all that without talking to the cult until the clock is repaired and working they would have acknowledged you. You could have broken the clock, talked to the creature and set it free and then repaired the clock by inserting an item into the broken part from the teleportation device near Genocide npc, using the Tide Surge taught by Tol Maguur on the clock and then fixing it properly. If you absolutely can't make your companions despise you in one playthrough start a new one where you focus solely on that, some characters are already negatively predisposed towards you, like Aligern. Maybe someone someday will write an extensive dialogue guide for this game, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Other than that I've nothing to add to what I've written in the trophy description. Of course, if you're aiming for Despised trophy, talking to them can lead to them liking you more, so be careful what you say and save before talking to them.Īlso, you can check their disposition towards you by asking them how things are between you/how are they holding up. So it's a good idea in general to exhaust their dialogues every time you're in a new zone. Sometimes they have new things to say in old dialogue trees. That's also not true, every time you visit a major new zone they have new things to say, or want to talk to you at certain points of the game, like after you complete the Endless Gate quest. In fact id love ot know how to even get ppl to hate me in this game, it seens there are never any conversations or options that realy affect my party members, and if they do Im oblivious to it as there are no indications something changed. Confirmed that as long as Callistege is in your party during the fight with the First Castoff before entering the Calm, Callistege will show up in the Oasis Fathom and allow you to send her to the Datasphere. You don't even have to have Callistege in your party for most of the game for this. I reloaded an earlier save and voila.Įdit: Wanted to add a note on the Ascended Trophy. Thank you! I didn't know he had to be present during the fight. So in general, if you're trying to do all companions trophies in one playthrough by saving and reloading, make sure you take them to the final battle after finishing their quests. Callistege can be found in the same fathom at the northernmost side of the map, near a table. Maybe they're hard to spot because they're almost at the edge of the map. You must talk to him after he talks to Dracogen and you must have Tybir in your party before the Calm, during the battle with the First Castoff, and then look for him and Auvigne in the rightmost corner of that oasis fathom.

Ask yourself: will I understand what it does when it performs a task? Can I automate tasks? What kind of features does it pack, and which ones will I need to use the most? These are all questions we answer in our reviews of CleanMyMac, a paid and much favored Mac optimization solution, and the free software OnyX that has a long-standing reputation in the field. So there are several factors you should consider before you even download an app, particularly whether it is user friendly or not and how much it will cost you. Results indicated that successful agers showed significantly more integrative and instrumental forms of reminiscence, which primarily function to reconcile the past, attain a sense of self-worth, and problem solve. Their model consisted of integrative, instrumental, transmissive, narrative, escapist, and obsessive forms of reminiscence. Wong and Watt 1991, in one of the few studies examining reminiscence functions in relation to adaptive aging, developed a taxonomy of six reminiscence types to differentiate between successful and unsuccessful aging. Haight 1991 comprehensively examined reminiscence treatments and noted that there is a continued need to define the factors that lead to successful reminiscing. Although literature supports the use of such treatments through group psychotherapy (Goldwasser, Auerbach, and Harkins 1987 Haight 1991 Rattenberg and Stones 1989 ), much of this information is anecdotal or involves group comparison outcome methodologies, which have traditionally neglected an examination of the factors affecting symptom relief or behavioral change. Much of the reminiscence literature has focused on the clinical applications of reminiscence and life-review groups in relation to outcome factors such as depression and anxiety. In addition, research has shown that older adults fluctuate with respect to the frequency and degree of pleasantness associated with reminiscence (Fry 1991 ). For example, older adults tend to use their memories primarily as a source of entertainment, whereas young people use their memories mainly as a problem-solving tool (Revere and Tobin 1980 ). Molinari and Reichlin 1984 suggested that reminiscence for older adults reflects qualitative rather than quantitative differences. However, older adults, compared with younger reminiscers, use past experiences for different purposes. Contrary to prior assumptions, age does not necessarily predict the frequency of reminiscence (Romaniuk and Romaniuk 1983 Webster 1994 ). Butler 1963 described reminiscence as a part of the normal life review process brought about by the realization of death and viewed the use of the past as a mechanism that aids individuals in preparing for death by mitigating fear and anxiety. Reminiscence, the recalling of memories from one's past experiences, is a multidimensional process that occurs in people of all ages. Contrary to previous studies, results indicate that depressed and anxious older adults commonly use reminiscence and therefore may be appropriate candidates for reminiscence treatments. Implications: The present study provides implications for both researchers and clinicians. Results:Using canonical correlation techniques, results indicated that individuals with negative psychological functioning frequently reminisce as a way to refresh bitter memories, reduce boredom, and prepare for death. Design and Methods: Seventy-seven healthy older adults completed the following self-report scales: Reminiscence Functions Scale, NEO Five Factor Personality Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory-Second Edition, State–Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the Templer-McMordie Death Anxiety Scale. Research in the area of reminiscence functions may facilitate a better understanding of the factors affecting change in reminiscence therapies. There is little research on the psychological factors that correlate with reminiscence, especially in relationship to clinical constructs such as depression and anxiety. Purpose: The present study examined the relationships between the frequency and functions of reminiscence, personality styles, and psychological functioning. However, KLD measures the relative entropy between two distributions, whereas cross-entropy measures the ‘total entropy’ between the distributions. Like other applications of entropy, such as joint entropy and conditional entropy, cross-entropy is one of many flavors of a rigid definition of entropy fitted for a unique application.Ĭross-entropy, like Kullback-Lieber Divergence (KLD), also deals with relationships between two distributions p and q, representing the true distribution p and the approximated distribution q. It can also be used for the optimization of almost any classification algorithm, like logistic regression. Be it categorical, sparse, or binary cross-entropy, the metric is one of the default go-to loss functions for high-performing neural nets. One of the favorite loss functions of neural networks is cross-entropy. Information gain can be thought of as the purity in a system: the amount of clean knowledge available in a system.ĭecision trees use entropy in their construction: in order to be as effective as possible in directing inputs down a series of conditions to a correct outcome, feature splits (conditions) with lower entropy (higher information gain) are placed higher on the tree. A high entropy means low information gain, and a low entropy means high information gain. Most scenarios applicable to data science are somewhere between astronomically high and perfectly low entropy. On the other hand, a weighted coin with events has very low entropy, and given the current information, we can almost definitively say that the next outcome will be tails. If you (or a machine learning algorithm) were to predict the next coin flip, you would be able to predict an outcome with any certainty - the system contains high entropy. Consider, for example, a coin toss - if the toss the coin four times and the events come up. The basic glossy white spray paint is white-white without any warmth and can look a little stark. If I were to do it again, I would have opted for a can of paint in a softer white and a sprayer. It took me 4 days to complete the project.ħ. I let each coat dry fully so I could sand if needed. I did about 4 or 5 light coats of paint (plus the first coat of primer). My poor neighbors had to see it wrapped up like this each night for a few days while I was in between coats. Just make sure you cover anything and everything that might come in contact with flying specks of paint.Ħ. I had a blanket and paper and cardboard down, but the spray still made it onto the walkway and over to my car parked in the driveway (big oops!). I think if I had consistently mixed up the paint, it would have gone on smoother. I used gloss paint that did not totally go on glossy. shake the can often to keep the paint mixed up. I didn’t fully sand – just the places that were a bit rough.Ĥ. This made me so frustrated and I think the wrinkles came when the overcoats went on too heavy.ģ. let it dry for a few minutes between coats use thin coats and quick sweeps across the furnitureĢ. Some things I learned when spray painting a piano (these might help you avoid my mistakes):ġ. I also picked up this spray adapter which made things much easier. I bought 8 cans of glossy white spray paint and it was just enough. For the piano bench, I brushed on the primer, but I did not like the brush strokes so for the piano, I switched to spray primer. Once the piece is sanded and wiped clean, apply a light coat of primer. I wet my cloth a tiny bit to grab the sanding dust which worked well. I used a fairly fine grit sand paper (100) just to rough up the finish. STEP ONE // take apart the pieces and tape it off.īe very detailed to make sure you keep the paint off the keys, the inside components and the metal foot pedals. So Ryan and our friend dragged the piano outside to our front walkway (a crazy place to paint, but it was the spot that made the most sense) and away I went. Years passed and the piano always felt dark and not right for our style until a few weeks ago when I came across this photo and it was jut the push I needed. There was a trend a few years ago when everyone was painting their pianos mustard or aqua and I was so tempted (especially by this photo), but just never felt committed to any one color. From the day we brought it into our house six years ago, I’ve wanted to paint it. We inherited our piano from my grandparents but it is not a piece that holds any particular sentimental meaning. So here it is – all my steps, tips and encouragement for painting your piano.įirst, a little back story.
